Last 5 year table
||Qualification or relegation
The best team in England for the last 5 years has been underrated by the premier league, the press and opposition fans. The headlines on the Sunday and Monday press were filled with Chelsea’s demise and Martial scoring on his Man Utd debut. The team that has won all its games this season is only mentioned after a pile of stories. I have considered that Crystal Palace vs Man City is more of a low profile match than the Man Utd vs Liverpool game or the Everton vs Chelsea match since the later are champions.
I’ve compiled all the results of the last 5 seasons including the season that has started this August to highlight my point. 157 games have been played since the 2011-2012 season. Manchester City have won 107 games, with their closest rivals(Man Utd) winning 98 games, Chelsea has won 92 games and Arsenal has won 91 games in that period. Manchester City have lost 24 times, with Chelsea losing 29 games, Man Utd losing 31 and Arsenal 32.
When we look at the goals scored in that period, Manchester City has scored 48 more goals than they nearest rivals with Man Utd scoring 307 goals. In the Goals conceded column Man City has conceded 18 less goals than Chelsea, who were the best defense last season. I am not a columnist, I don’t work for the press but who can argue with these facts when I state that Man City is the best team in England and has been for the last 5 seasons
Aguero, Toure, Silva, Kompany, Zabaletta, Hart haven’t been given awards or any appreciation by the premier league
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin’ hot spot
They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them
Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT
I don’t care about spots on my apples,
Leave me the birds and the bees Please
Listen, late last night, I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took my girl away
No, no, no
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you got ’til it’s gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot
What is South Africa? Is it a country or is it a geographical location? Why is it named South Africa? Is it simply because its location is in the south of Africa?
These are simple questions to answer to the simple minded but to the inquisitive mind, it creates more questions. South Africa is a country in Africa that does not own itself, it is a port. A place of entry and exit to Africa, that is why it does not have a name. A country which is owned not by its own inhabitants but by the western dynasty so a simple name like South Africa should be easy to remember because it is just a geographical location.
Stating the reality of the name South Africa does not mean I would want it to change because just changing the name does not change anything in the country. This country is a reflection of a system which has been created for the exclusive. This system which has been in operation since before colonisation when Europeans realised that Europe was too small for the growth of its communities and decided on a venture of taking over land that didn’t belong to them. The colonialist didn’t only take over land but it took over the inhabitants.
South Africans are the most confused people in the world. Caught between the changing technological world and the values of the people. In a changing world, we cannot be left behind in everything including thinking. Traditional ideals have to change but in the change, we must always keep the core of our principles. We have seen revolutionaries struggle for a cause until that cause gets clouded by money. When people start living comfortable, they forget that they were in a struggle and they were not the only ones in that struggle.
Azania is struggling to keep its identity, its children are struggling to have a voice. Azania has been force-fed many ideals and we face an identity crisis. I for one don’t. Even if my Identity Document states that my place of birth is South Africa, I know that I am Azanian and one day Azania shall be free.
